Archbishop Leonard Blair: The Catechism and Its Importance in Catechetics in the United States
Guest:
What impact did the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, twenty-five years ago, have on the Church in the United States? How has the Catechism served as a guide to the bishops in their catechetical work?
Archbishop Leonard Blair, Archbishop of Hartford, CT, talks about how the Conformity Review process, established by the USCCB to ensure authenticity and completeness in catechetical texts in relation to the Catechism, has changed catechesis and addresses some of the challenges that changes in technology are bringing to the process in his talk entitled “The Catechism and its Importance in Catechetics in the United States: The First Twenty-Five Years and Looking Forward.” Archbishop Blair’s talk was part of the Speaking the Truth in Love Conference, sponsored by the Catechetical Institute at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
